Your data
DriveMate is built and run by one person and funded by voluntary donations. There are no advertisers and no investors, so your data has no buyer. This page explains in plain words what we store about you and why. The legal details live in the Privacy Policy.
What we store and why
Account
Your email, name, and password stored as an irreversible hash. Without these there is no account.
Vehicles
Plate number, VIN, mileage and expiry dates (MOT, insurance, service). These power your reminders and the service book.
Documents
Uploaded files (registration card, invoices, service papers) go to private storage that only you can access.
Driver's license
If you add it, we store your license details for the expiry reminder. The scanned photo is deleted right after text extraction.
Buyer search
Your search settings (budget, filters) and the results, so you can look back at them. Without an account, daily limits are counted with a keyed, irreversible identifier; we never store your actual IP address.
What we don't do
- We never sell or pass on your data.
- No ad tracking, no cross-site profiling.
- No marketing email, only what your account needs (like a password reset).
- Visits are measured without cookies; the measurement identifier is discarded after 24 hours.
- The AI provider does not train on your data.
Where your data lives
The database runs in Frankfurt (Neon), the app in Belgium (Google Cloud), and your uploaded files sit in Cloudflare storage restricted to the EU. Two providers work outside the EU: OpenAI reads text out of your documents and powers the buyer recommendations (requests are not used for training and are kept at most 30 days for abuse checks), and Resend sends the system emails (30-day retention). Both are under EU data-protection agreements.
You're in control
From your profile you can download everything in a single JSON file, and you can delete your account there too. Deletion is real: your database records and uploaded files are gone for good. If you can't get into your account, email info@drivemate.hu and we'll sort it out.
Who's behind it
DriveMate is run by Ádám Bíró as a private individual in Hungary. If you have a question or want to use your data-protection rights (access, correction, deletion, portability), email info@drivemate.hu. Donations go through Ko-fi's own site; DriveMate never sees any payment data.
